Théâtre du Soleil was established in France in 1964 by Ariane Mnouchkine. This avant-garde theater company is characterized by multinational and multiethnic collaborative creation, incorporating traditional styles from Europe and Asia while sharply reflecting social awareness in its works, influencing audiences worldwide.
In 2023, the Théâtre du Soleil visited Japan and performed "The Island of Golden Dreams" against a Japanese backdrop. This performance inspired three students from the Graduate School of Global Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts to study the works of the Théâtre du Soleil deeply. Motivated by this experience, we established a Théâtre du Soleil study group to explore the company's practices from various perspectives, including feminism and intercultural issues.
The study group is expected to enhance intercultural exchange and understanding, increasing awareness of cultural and artistic diversity and social issues. Researching and discussing the works of Théâtre du Soleil offers a valuable opportunity for academic and practical growth for students engaged in international creative study and creation. Furthermore, by communicating with others who have shared the experience of watching these performances, students can gain multi-faceted insights into the works and address intercultural issues more profoundly.
The planning and operation of such a study group contribute to academic pursuits and raise awareness of artistic creation and social issues. It fosters a better understanding of others through diverse communication, potentially initiating new movements in the international arts community and academic fields. The Théâtre du Soleil's approach can catalyze new developments in these areas.
太陽劇団（Théâtre du Soleil）は、アリアーヌ・ムヌーシュキンによって1964年に設立されたフランスの前衛劇団です。この劇団は、多国籍・多民族による共同創作を特徴とし、ヨーロッパやアジアの伝統様式を取り入れながら、社会への問題意識を鋭く反映した作品で世界中に影響を与えています。
2023年、太陽劇団は日本に来日し、日本を背景にした『金夢島』を上演しました。それを観劇した東京藝術大学大学院国際芸術創造研究科の3名の学生は、この経験から太陽劇団の作品を深く研究するきっかけを得ました。私たちは、フェミニズムやインターカルチュラル問題といった多角的な視点から太陽劇団の実践について考え、太陽劇団研究会を立ち上げました。
この研究会では、異文化間の交流や理解を深めること、文化芸術の多様性や社会問題に対する意識を高めることが期待されています。太陽劇団の作品を通じて行われる研究や議論は、国際的な芸術を研究・創造する学生たちにとって学問的・実践的成長に繋がる貴重な機会となります。また、演劇の内容に限らず、同じ観劇経験を持つ他者とのコミュニケーションを通じて、作品に対する多面的な洞察やインターカルチュラルな問題への新たな認識を深めることができるでしょう。
このような研究会の企画と運営は、学術的な探求だけでなく、芸術創作や社会的な課題への意識を高め、多様なコミュニケーションを通じた他者理解の促進にも寄与すると考えられます。太陽劇団のアプローチは、国際的な芸術コミュニティや学術分野での新たな動きを生み出すきっかけとなり得ます。
